Truly, Germany is experiencing the peak of early Spring weather. These past three days, we've had lovely sunshine with just a few clouds and pleasant temperatures, annoying drizzle, heavy rain, a sudden bout of hail, and then this morning awful cold with a really uncomfortable wind.

I say peak of early Spring, because this weather is actually relatively common, or at the very least normal enough to be responsible for its own... well, I suppose calling them "weather proverbs" is a good description. The most well known of them being "April macht was er will", literally meaning "April does what it wants", figuratively meaning that any kind of weather is possible in April. Sunshine and heat, rain and thunder, even snow and ice. It's actually not unheard of to have a snow covered Easter. It's probably just as likely as a White Christmas, nowadays (White Christmas being exceedingly rare. The last one in my hometown was in the 90s.)

There's also weather proverbs/country sayings that you're not supposed to plant anything frost-sensitive until after the 13th to 15th of May (depends on the region... the further South you go, the more it tends towards the 15th), when the "Ice Saints" have passed, because cold snaps happened often enough to result in some sort of recogniseable pattern that helped create this soft rule.

In the end, you can only apply another German saying to these weather shenanigans: "There's no bad weather, only the wrong choice of clothing."
